Microsoft Giving Campaign Chess FestivalRedmond WA October 17th, 2009
Microsoft Giving Campaign Chess Festival helped raised funds for America's Foundation for Chess.
It was an all day event with three tournaments, blidnfold simultaneous performed by Katerina Rohonyan against the overall winner of the all the tournaments and another wild-card
player, a lecture given by FM Marcel Milat and, finally, the simulatenous performed by US Champion Hikaru Nakamura.

US Chess League 2009
This was Katerina's second year playing in the US Chess League as a part of
Seattle Sluggers team
and fifth year in general. For three years prior to joining her current team, she used to play for
Baltimore Kingfishers.

Washington State ChampionshipRedmond, WA February 7-16, 2008
During two weekends through a period of February 7-16, three major WA tournaments took place in Redmond - WA State, Championship Premier and Invitational.
Katerina Rohonyan played in the WA State Championship and scored 5 points out of 9, winning over one of the leaders of the tournaments in the last round -
Michael Lee.

This year, Katerina Rohonyan graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) with
a B.S. degree in computer science and moved from Maryland to Washington to work for Microsoft. Hence, this year she played for
Seattle Sluggers, whereas before she used to play for
Baltimore Kingfishers.

"Katherine Rohonyan rated 52nd by FIDE is called the main surprise-maker of the first round of the Women's World Chess Championship in Nalchik. She beat Natalia Zhukova rated 13th. Five years ago Katia Rohonyan lived in a Ukranian city of Nikolaev and played for the youth team. At that time Natalia Zhukova was already a famous chess player on the chess arena and was one of the best chess players of Russia. "How do you feel about winning against Zhukova" - was the question she was asked at the press conference after the first round. "This fact pleases my ambition" said the girl smiling"
